The story follows John Bennett, whose childhood wish brought his teddy bear, Ted, to life only for the two to grow up into foul-mouthed, weed smoking slackers. As John's girlfriend, Lori, pushes him to finally "grow up," the lifelong bond between man and bear is put to the ultimate test. I love this movie because it takes a sugary, magical premise and drags it into the messy reality of adulthood. It's special because beneath the R rated humor and "Family Guy" style cutaways, it's a surprisingly heartfelt look at the difficulty of letting go of your childhood to make room for your future.

Admiral General Aladeen, the eccentric and oppressive ruler of Wadiya, travels to New York to address the UN, only to be betrayed, shaved, and replaced by a dim-witted body double. Stranded and unrecognizable, he has to navigate the civilized world with the help of a social activist who stands for everything he hates. I find this film memorable for its fearless, biting satire; Sacha Baron Cohen is a master at making you laugh at things you probably shouldn't. The climactic speech where he "defends" dictatorship by describing the flaws in modern democracy is a brilliant, uncomfortable highlight that sticks with you long after the credits.

An unlucky assassin code named Ladybug just wants a peaceful job, but his latest mission to snatch a briefcase on a Japanese bullet train puts him on a collision course with a group of diverse, lethal killers who all have overlapping motives. I'm obsessed with the contained chaos of this movie. the way the plot unfolds like a puzzle where every minor detail eventually pays off is so satisfying. The chemistry between the twins, Tangerine and Lemon, gives the film an unexpected emotional core amidst the neon soaked, hyper violent action. It's a stylish, fast-paced ride that doesn't take itself too seriously while still delivering top-tier choreography.
